| About the Artist |
Suzana De Paola’s creations consist of paintings, with a dab in batiks and 3D pieces. Sensuality is a quality often included in her work while she portrays idealized images of the human body, with a touch in other subjects. Aggressive brush strokes and the use of chiaroscuro* is a strong characteristic of Suzana’s work, while her batik pieces make for very bright and unusual displays. Suzana’s style is highly influenced by Tamara De Lempicka and the Pop Art movement. Her artistic journey began in Rome, Italy in 1996. Suzana lived in Rome and studied art in high school, travelling throughout Europe on school projects and for leisure. The different cultural stimulation and the study of ancient Rome inspired Suzana to pursue her artistic passion. The family support and recognition from early school years from as early as 1989, encouraged Suzana to share her art with the people around her and local community. Some early recognitions include winning 2nd place in the "World Food Day Poster" competition from FAO Women's Guild of Rome in 1999, and being featured in the 2000 year book for her school. Currently living in Miami, Florida, Suzana participates in local festivals and exhibits in local galleries and events. She is currently studying Forensic Art for future community involvement and to enhance her sketching abilities. Every piece is meant to impact, inspire and be remembered. *Term used in art for a contrast between light and dark usually applied to bold contrasts affecting a whole composition, to achieve a sense of volume in modeling three-dimensional objects such as the human body. |

| "My art is a translation of the innermost basic instincts." |
| "I am a firm believer that life is short and it is a gift. My personality reflects to always say what is on my mind, seize the day, treat others as you wish to be treated, dream and believe that anything is possible. My artwork reflects just that. My inspiration comes from events around me, emotions within, true pain and true love. The subject matter varies immensely but sensuality tends to be a common factor regardless of the medium or style. I believe that the human being can be the most beautiful being and the most vicious animal. Sensuality can too be devilish or heavenly. Art is my therapy, the connection to my soul and a thorough understanding of my mind. It frees my moments of joy, my fears, my heartaches and is always sympathetic to the admirer on the other side." |
